Aluminum

  • Alba - Aluminium Bahrain produces half a million MT of high quality primary aluminum annually. Since the early 1980s, the company has expanded in four stages from the original 120,000 MT per year capacity to 500,000 MT per year today. The company has constructed a 450,000 MT/year petroleum coke calciner near the plant which will supply all of the smelter's calcined petroleum coke needs. [See pictures of calciner]

  • Alcan - a global leader in aluminum and packaging.  In October 2000 the company merged with Alusuisse Group Ltd.  The new Alcan has holdings in nine bauxite mines, eight alumina refineries and interests in 15 aluminum smelters with a total of 2.2 million MT of smelting capacity.

  • Alcoa Inc. - the world's leading producer of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum, and alumina. With activities in mining, refining, smelting, fabricating, and recycling in 36 countries, the company provides fabricated and finished aluminum products to customers in the packaging, automotive, aerospace, construction, and other markets.

  • Aluar - (Spanish only) Argentina's only primary aluminum smelter.

  • BHP Billiton - one of the world's largest producers of aluminum, the world's largest exporter of thermal coal and has a controlling interest in the world's leading integrated producer of ferrochrome and ferromanganese. Aluminum production comprises the wholly-owned Bayside Smelter and the Hillside Smelter which are both located in South Africa; a 46 per cent interest in the Alumar smelter located in Brazil, and a 46 per cent interest in Valesul Aluminio, also located in Brazil. A new smelter (Mozal), in which Billiton holds a 47 per cent interest, is now operational in Mozambique.

  • Kaiser Aluminum Corporation - operating through its wholly-owned subsidiary Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation, is a producer and marketer of alumina, primary aluminum, flat-rolled products, and engineered products. 

  • Norsk Hydro -  a major player in the field of energy production and downstream utilization, with the most important forms of energy being hydroelectric power, oil and gas. Its Hydro Aluminium Metal Products division supplies more than 2 million MT of aluminum each year from a network of casthouses in Europe and the U.S. 

  • Pechiney - Europe's largest producer of primary aluminum and the fourth largest worldwide, Pechiney operates in all facets of aluminum production (bauxite, alumina, primary aluminum). The company is also one of Europe's leading aluminum converters. In 2003, the company was acquired by Alcan. 

  • Zaporizhzhe Aluminium Smelter - Ukraine's only, and one of the CIS' few, suppliers of aluminum and alumina. The company has developed and launched production of a number of aluminum-based foundry alloys, subsequently widely used in machine building and agricultural machinery.

  

Power

  • AES Corporation -  a leading global power company comprised of competitive generation, distribution, and retail supply businesses totaling over 54,000 megawatts of capacity in 23 countries.  AES Deepwater is one of the largest and most consistent users of petcoke in the power industry.

  • Entergy Wholesale Operations - Entergy’s non-utility power development, marketing, and trading business unit.  The company has approximately 10,000 megawatts of net capacity in operation, under construction or in advanced development in North America and Western Europe.

  • First Energy - a diversified energy services holding company headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Its electric utility operating companies comprise the nation's 10th largest investor-owned electric system, operating 16 power plants that produce approximately 12,000 megawatts of electricity.

  • JEA - the eighth largest municipal utility in the United States providing electricity, water and wastewater service.

  • LG&E Energy - a subsidiary of EON US, is a diversified energy services company with businesses in power generation and project development; retail gas and electric utility services; and asset-based energy marketing.

  • RWE - German conglomerate of companies focusing on the core businesses of energy and the environment.

  • Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc  - Seminole Electric is a generation and transmission cooperative, serving an estimated 1.6 million individuals and businesses in portions of 46 counties throughout Florida.

  • TECO Power Services Corporation - a subsidiary of TECO Energy, Inc. which is involved in electric generation/distribution and natural gas distribution. TECO Power Services builds, owns and operates electric generation facilities in high growth areas of North America.

   

Cement

  • Cemex -  is one of the three largest cement companies in the world, with close to 77 million MT of production cement capacity.  

  • Holcim - one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, aggregates and concrete.  Deliveries of cement and clinker total about 82.0 million MT.  

  • Lafarge - world leader in construction materials: Cement, Aggregates & Concrete, Roofing and Gypsum.  With the latest acquisition of Blue Circle, Lafarge will become the first cement manufacturer worldwide with an annual capacity of approximately 150 million metric tons.

  • CIMPOR - Cimentos de Portugal is the largest Portuguese cement group, operating in seven countries (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Brazil, Mozambique, and Egypt) involved in manufacturing and marketing cement, hydraulic lime, concrete and aggregates, precast concrete and dry mortars.

  

Others

TiO2

  • CRISTAL - the sole producer of TiO2 pigment in the Middle East and North Africa. A private joint venture between Shairco, Gulf Investment Corp., National Industrialization Co. and Kerr McGee Chemical Corp., with over 70,000 MT/year of capacity.

  • Dupont  - businesses include White Pigments and Mineral Products, which includes titanium dioxide products; Specialty Chemicals, which produces a range of chemical intermediates; and Fluorochemicals, which produces refrigerants.

  • Huntsman Tioxide - is one of the world's largest producers of titanium dioxide pigments, together with associated co-products, with total production capacity of 570,000 MT/year.

  • Kemira Pigments - produces titanium dioxide pigments. The largest customers are paint, paper, plastic and printing ink companies. Kemira has one production plant in Pori, Finland.

  • Kronos - a global leader in the manufacturing and sale of titanium dioxide with six manufacturing sites in North America and Europe and sales offices throughout the world.

  • Millennium Chemicals Inc. - with operations on five continents, Millennium Chemicals Inc. is a major international chemical company, with leading market positions in a broad range of commodity, industrial, performance and specialty chemicals.

  

Needle Coke

  • Graphite India Ltd. - sells graphite electrodes, carbon paste, specialty graphite products, graphite powders, and calcined petroleum coke.

  • Seadrift Coke LP. - The world's only merchant needle coke plant dedicated to producing needle coke for graphite electrode manufacturing.

  

Shippers/Freight

  • Cargo Port Links - provides links to various ports and terminals throughout the world. Contains information for the marine community regarding vessel traffic and type of cargo handled by each port.

  • Freightworld - the professional guide to worldwide freight transportation and logistics. This electronic publication provides a useful resource for the freight transportation and logistics industry.

  • Kinder Morgan Energy Partners -  the general partner of KMP is owned by Kinder Morgan, Inc., one of the largest midstream energy companies in America. KMP business segments include bulk terminals, product pipelines, natural gas pipelines, and liquid terminals.

  • Pabtex Bulk Commodity Handling Facility - operated by Kansas City Southern and Savage Gulf Services Ltd., L.L.P, is a major bulk commodity handling facility located in Port Arthur, Texas.  It specializes in exporting petroleum coke and coal, which it receives by train and truck and then transfers to ship for transport to final destination.

  • Savage Industries -  the Company has been in business over fifty years and has materials management and transportation services experience in terminaling, transloading, transportation, inventory management, warehousing, information services.

  • The Port of Beaumont - maintains complete facilities to handle a variety of cargo, including, but not limited to, Forest Products, Grains, Project Cargo, Military, Bagged Goods, Aggregate, Metals, and Wood Chips.

  • The Port of Tarragona - (Spanish only) contains information and statistics relating to the port and the city.

  • TGS - the company's activities include port operations, deepwater services and a Panamax class self-unloading bulk carrier.  TGS operates six ocean bulk terminal facilities with a throughput of eight million tons of dry bulk and steel cargo annually.
